The Reluctant Fundamentalist

A tale of profound, global implications and a crackling political thriller, acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair’s (Monsoon Wedding) boldly dramatic adaptation of THE RELUCTANT FUNDAMENTALIST is a story about conflicting ideologies where perception and suspicion have the power to determine life or death.  Changez (Riz Ahmed), a promising young Pakistani who is living the American dream—Princeton education, fortune and glory on Wall Street, sexy artist girlfriend (Kate Hudson)—finds himself in a nightmare after the 9/11 attack.  Suddenly transformed from a well-educated,  upwardly mobile businessman to a scapegoat and perceived enemy, his journey leads him back to Lahore where years later, a reporter (Liev Schreiber)  suspects him of being involved in the kidnapping of an American professor.  An excellent supporting cast including Kiefer Sutherland, Om Puri and Shabana Azmi help bring Mohsin Hamid’s award-winning 2007 book to the screen with both passion and insight.
