E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

"A masterpiece that deserves to be seen and appreciated on a big screen."—Lou Lumenick, NEW YORK POST

E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL is Steven Spielberg's warmhearted classic delight for both children and adults. It tells the story of an alien creature, E.T., mistakenly left behind on Earth. When a young boy, Elliott (Henry Thomas), finds E.T. and hides him in his home, both their worlds are changed forever. The alien teaches Elliott and his two siblings (Drew Barrymore and Robert MacNaughton), whose parents have recently separated, about caring and love, while the children protect E.T. from the malevolent world of grown-ups. Elliott and E.T. become so close that they share emotions; as E.T. becomes ill, so does Elliott. The children end up going on a fabulous adventure trying to help E.T. find a way back to his home planet. The movie was originally going to be based on a story idea by director John Sayles, but after he removed himself from the project, screenwriter Melissa Mathison (Harrison Ford’s wife) took over the script and made it her own. John Williams’s beautiful soundtrack became forever linked to E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL.

"Boasts the most astonishing and indelible images in Keaton's body of work, and some of the best moments in movie history...wildly inventive, increasingly audacious stunts."—Steven D. Greydanus, DECENT FILMS GUIDE

In STEAMBOAT BILL, JR., Buster Keaton plays the mild-mannered son of a steamboat captain caught in the middle of the bitter rivalry between his father and another Mississippi riverboat owner. This silent classic contains the famous stunt in which a cyclone blows down a two-story wall over Keaton who passes unharmed through an open window.

Max Rules

Audience Award Winner - Seattle International Film Festival and the Schlingel International Film Festival for Children (Germany)

Reminiscent of Spy Kids, this action-packed adventure-comedy is the brainchild of 19-year-old Robert Burke. Max, Jessica, and Scott are a team of energetic, sophisticated, technologically savvy super spies. Max has access to some of the most high-tech equipment in the world, Jessica is a martial arts expert, and Scott is a wire-tapping and hacking connoisseur. There is just one catch—they are in junior high school. Max and his friends find thrills in spying on their families, sneaking into each other’s houses, and organizing elaborate pranks at school, which often lands them in the principal’s office. Max lives with his uncle, Rick Brinkley (William B. Davis, The X Files), who develops top-secret equipment for the government. When Max gets word that an important microchip has been stolen, the team gears up for their most exciting mission yet.

Dr. Seuss'
The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T

"An underappreciated 1950's classic...one of the best fantasy films ever produced by Hollywood...The dreamy sets succeed in making the film look like a Dr. Seuss book brought to life."—TV GUIDE'S MOVIE GUIDE

One of the strangest and most beloved children’s films ever made, THE 5000 FINGERS OF DR. T is presented here in a glorious 35mm color print. This fun-filled fantasy has the distinction of being written and designed by none other than Dr. Seuss, and it features the surreal landscapes, wonderful satire, and tongue-twisting rhymes for which he’s famous. In this fantastic story, the imagination of a nine-year-old boy comes vividly to life. Young Bart Collins, lulled to sleep by the monotony of his piano lessons, dreams of a castle ruled by his piano teacher, the eccentric Dr. Terwilliker (Hans Conried). Dr. T is determined to prove that his “Happy Fingers Method” of teaching piano is the best in the world. Having banished all other musical instruments to the dungeon, he lures 500 reluctant little boys to perform in a colossal concert on the grandest grand piano ever built. In his efforts to escape, Bart comes in contact with some of the wildest characters imaginable—Siamese twins on rollerskates, a human drum, and the most memorable villain since “The Grinch.”

USA, 1953, 88 min, Directed by Roy Rowland, 35mm
