Enzian awarded national endowment grant for access to artistic excellence
$10,000 Award Received alongside New York’s Film Forum,
The California Film Institute and Others
Orlando, FL - (Jan. 21, 2010) – The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) announced Enzian, celebrating its 25th year, as a recipient of its 2010 Grant Award for Access to Artistic Excellence in the Media Arts Category. As one of only two organizations in Florida to receive this distinction, Enzian was awarded $10,000 for its program, the 19th annual Florida Film Festival.
The Art Institute of Chicago, the Austin Film Society, the California Film Institute, and Film Forum in New York are among the other recipients of this year’s grant.
“It is an honor to receive this distinction among leading institutions across the nation,” said Enzian President Henry Maldonado. “As a non-profit, we strive to create exceptional and compelling programming for the Central Florida community and beyond and we’re thrilled and grateful the NEA has recognized our efforts.”
The NEA is a public agency dedicated to supporting excellence in the arts and is the largest annual national funder of the arts in the United States. Since 1965, the NEA has awarded more than 130,000 grants totaling more than $4 billion. For more information about the NEA, visit www.arts.gov.
Enzian is Central Florida’s only full-time, not-for-profit cinema for first-run independent and international film, classic revivals, documentary features, and select family entertainment. Enzian, a member-supported organization serving the community for 25 years, is home to the Florida Film Festival which attracts more than 25,000 guests annually, and the Eden Bar.
