PEE-WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE (1985)
Rated PG
“Paging Mr. Herman! Mr. Herman, you have a telephone call at the front desk!” Take off on an epic adventure as Pee-Wee (Paul Reubens) sets out on an obsessive quest to reclaim his beloved shiny new bike from nemesis Francis Buxton. Along the way, he befriends a slew of oddball characters, tours the historic Alamo, dances on a bar with brawling bikers, and hitchhikes with a ghost. Marking Tim Burton’s feature directorial debut, this whimsical, wacky film is a comedy classic. Don’t be a nerd (“I know you are but what am I?”) and head on down to Enzian’s big outdoor screen in Central Park. Tell ‘em Large Marge sent ya!

HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS Rated G
Kick off the season with the funny and heartwarming “Elf” directed by Jon Favreau. Will Ferrell plays the charming, naïve Buddy, a man raised as an elf by Santa Claus (“I know him!”). When Papa Elf (Bob Newhart) breaks the news, Buddy journeys to New York City to meet his father (James Caan). Look for Mary Steenburgen, Zooey Deschanel, Peter Dinklage, Amy Sedaris, and Ed Asner too. So sing out loud and spread some sticky, gooey good cheer. “Sounds like somebody needs to sing a Christmas Carol!”
